Because they are short term, a person’s credit history is not as important because they will not be making any installment payments. Instead, these loans are secured via a bank account and the fund are both directly deposited as well as taken out, if approved, without the person having to do anything. With this in mind, the lenders are willing to give the short term loans without credit checks because they have a guarantee on the loan already. However, the good thing for most people is that these loans also don’t go on a credit history so it will not effect a credit score at all, and if not paid back, there is little a lender can do about it outside of a civil lawsuit, which in some cases will cost more to the lender than the actual loan.

I agree that even though these loans are getting regulated more and debated, they are still the lifeline for many people and without them more people would probably file bankruptcy or default on other loans. Critics like to say that these loans cause the problems, and put people into a cycle of debt, but in fact there is no evidence to back up this claim and a major report came out last year stating just the opposite.

Agreed. Payday loans are not intended to be used week after week, or check after check, and in those cases it can seem like a cycle of debt. They are intended to for one time emergency use to get from one paycheck to the next. If used properly and paid back on time, payday loans can be a better option than floating checks or paying late fees. These loans don’t go on a personal credit history so they won’t effect a person’s personal credit score, like paying bills late can do.
